Can I Get Tax Relief if I'm Over 16?
Even those who don't earn can get the equivalent of 20% tax relief in a pension. In this case, the maximum amount that can be put away is £2,880 a year. Pension companies would automatically top it up to the £3,600 saved by what's called relief at source with the 20% added by the state. So, you do get tax relief even though you're not a taxpayer. And this applies to anyone, unless there's certain rules when you're older and if you've got another certain amount in your pension - including under 18s.
