The Evidence for Media Campaigns to Reduce Violence
Laura Knight crunches the data for my organisation, the Youth Endowment Fund. She shares the evidence with people about what works and what doesn't. We want to look at multiple studies that have been undertaken in different locations. What does the evidence say? So the idea is by taking weapons off the streets you can reduce violence. But what it doesn't do is address the intent to use that weapon or the intent to be involved in violence. At the moment we haven't got good evidence about what the long term impact is of knife bins. Are the things that we have just no evidence that they work?We don't have any evidence about whether media campaigns have an effect on reducing violence
