The United States Is a Democracy, Right?
The U.S. ranked 26th in the world when it comes to democracy, CNN's John Sutter says. The Economist Intelligence Unit uses 60 indicators to measure where a country stands on the scale from full democracy all the way down to authoritarian regime. We are at a 7.85 out of 10 now; in 2006, we were at 8.66 out of 10. And who is number one? Norway. New Zealand and Finland,. It was a three-way tie with a perfect 10. Afghanistan. Now 26th place for a country that regularly champions itself as being the ultimate democracy.
