The Republican Party Is Screwed

CNN's John Avlon says he has no idea how many Republicans will vote to convict Donald Trump in the Senate. He thinks McConnell is making a very explicit calculation: Am I better off ripping off the Band-Aid of Trumpism now, actually banning him so he can't run for office again? Or am I going to continue to kind of try to ride out this tiger and rescue the scraps of the elites who are willing to go along with insanity? The GOP "is screwed either way," Avlon says.
