If you have a growth rate that is one percentage point lower, over the course of a bit more than a century, you could have been three times richer with the higher growth rate. I don't think economic growth is always a positive, but the world, in america, has serious problems. There is a moral imperative to this kind of progress, and we shouldn't lose sight of that fact. And so no, since i was born, for example, global life expectancy has increased by about six years. An infant mortality has fallen by more than 50%. That should be on the front page.
