In a patient who, you know, has a normal GFR, so a GFR north of 60, it's very reasonable to add potassium to fluids as long as you have a plan to monitor. Remember, we're talking about 20 mill equivalence of fluid per liter. So patients are actually truly not getting that much potassium over a period of hours. It seems like a big number but when you think about it in terms of their hourly ongoing fluid requirement, it's not a huge amount.
