I have a policy or process where notifications are just handy and if I miss a notification it's not a big deal. Same thing with tweets I dive into the Twitter stream when I see it and I don't worry about the stuff that I miss. And same thing with my downloads folder is my anything in my downloads folder should be able to delete at any time. If you know if your company is like calendar based and people are looking for open time in your calendar or whatever go on like I'm scheduled work time and shut that stuff off.
