The US Strategy in Iraq During the Cold War

Did you get a sense that the US was adopting this as a strategy to kind of consolidate its control? I mean look Jeremy, all imperial powers would use one part of the population against the other. The British did that in India and we see what that led to. Some of the people who created this Ministry of Interior Special Forces had that same experiment in Latin America during the wars in Salvador and Nicaragua. This is why we ended up with security forces that are heavily infiltrated by Iranian trained militias. How idiotic you have to be as an army officer general to not see what was going in the ground but you know setting up the ground for a civil war.
