The Dangers of Using a Monitor on Setup
I think the biggest thing is that the condition of where you're viewing the monitor is always so different. And there's a danger that people look at a monitor on set and do too much timing on set. When they see on a big screen, it doesn't really reflect what they thought they had. But just turning on a monitor and putting the LUT through it in simplistic terms for lack of minutia is not necessarily going to give you the result that we achieve. It also requires daily testing to make sure that that monitor is displaying your image correctly.
