The History of Measles in the Middle Ages
During the Middle Ages, physicians started to recognize and describe measles as a disease. The term mezels was used to refer to the lesions from leprosy. It's not fully clear when it switched from being used interchangeably to being reserved just for measles alone. But the earliest reference that we can say for sure is talking about measles is from the physician razas in 900.
