La Bise - The True French Kiss

As a child, mathieu discovered la bize at home. He was expected to kiss every family member, hallo, even people he d never met. Mathieu was shy, so the idea of kissing strangers made him extremely uncomfortable. Like many french kids, he would complain sapice or it stings. There was no escaping it. Labise was mandatory like eating vegetables or saying please and thank you.
