How to Hedging a Dispersion Trade
I think when you hear about a dispersion trade, it sounds really simple. And then the actual hedging in the book is much more difficult than people realize. How do you hedge? That is ultimately the only question that matters. The answer to the question is unknowable. You hedge on an unknowable future volatility. Because that is the correct hedge ratio. It reminds me of some corny Kevin Costner movie from the 80s or 90s.
