The Evolution of Nervous Systems
As an organism becomes more mobile, it's naturally going to encounter a greater diversity of environments. So we can imagine very simple organisms and they're just basically floating around in the soup. And then eventually obviously we get animals in the sort of traditional sense where, you know, they have appendages or fins or whatever and they can travel quite large distances. The longer you can travel, the further you canTravel, the more diversity of environments you will encounter. This means that your nervous system needs to be able to cope with those diverse set of environments.
