Paul effectively takes the story of Augustus turns it on its head and says the true lord did not grasp at equality with God did not make himself divine but emptied himself and went through this excruciating and appalling death only then to be to be glorified. Almost every one of those phrases in that little hymn versus 15 to 20 of Colossians 1 is found on coins and inscriptions all over the Mediterranean world of Caesar of Augustus and of those who followed after him. i find really fascinating verse five you all know that one about have this mind and you which was also in Christ that it's always puzzled translators as to what on earth Paul means by 'divinity'
