The History of Thailand's Constitution

In 2006 and then in 2014, two elected prime ministers from the same powerful political family were ousted by coups. Their popularity was seen as a threat to the monarchy. There had been widespread pro and anti-government protests but they're really used as a pretext for the military to take over. In 2017, all 250 members of the Senate would be appointed by the military. As well as those unelected 250 senators, there were 500 elected lower house members.
