At google you could basically just go and do whatever you wanted. podcasting was part of my day job it was paid to do it for work obviously but then it is pick the thing you want to work on so that's one of the good things about working inside such a big company. I joined the company just as kubernetes was being discussed i remember going to my my first off-site international meeting in seattle and talking to some guys there who are working on some secret project seven thing.
