Excommunication is a good, even when it doesn't bring repentance. To persist in their corrupting wickedness would be a harm not only to God's people in his kingdom but to the offender himself. And so for the church to remove them from the situation through excommunication, where they can keep on inflicting that damage,. That is a blessing to that person, even if it introduces a sort of discomfort into his or her life. There's justice to be called for and what that looks like to me. I'm actually asking you to poke holes in this because I care about truth far more than being right.
