The Temple of the Sabbath
The east gate would be the most natural place to begin a tour of the temple. The steps in different parts of the temple invite us to think of a movement into the temple as an ascent up. As you move into the holier parts of the tabernacle or temple, you are symbolically ascending to the presence of god. Within the gate, there are three side rooms, each with a one reed or six cubits square floor plan,. Each was separated by five cubits. Past these side rooms was the vestibule, a larger room that was the final room one would pass through before leaving the gate.
