The moslem arabs take control of basically all the silk road cities and install themselves as a small ruling elit. They do not forcibly convert people, and they don't make a lot of effort to convert people. But gradually, overtime islam starts to kind of trickle out. So this arab control doesn't last for very long either. And instead, again, you get a sort of post imperial turkish era.
