Strong migrations are known, common scenarios where certain types of structure changes can be problematic. Postcris developers have improved post cris to eliminate some of these potentially dangerous operations. In the past, if you added a column with a default value that was prior to postscris 11, that would do what they call a full table rewrite. And that would be really problematic for big data bases with a lot of concurrent activity. But in version 11 and newer f, they've actually fixed that, and made it a safe operation.
