Poverty is not an excuse to hold down food standards, says A. We need targeted measures that make nutritious food available and affordable like extending free school meals for instance fruit and veg vouchers. Government can really lead the way with looking for more local sourcing for public settings like schools and hospitals. It is about rebalancing rather than going 100% local of course but there is actually a huge opportunity for a new wave of what we like to call market garden cities.
