The Shinto Period - A History of Japan
For the next 200 years, following the mongol invasions, japan remains untroubled by foreign threats. In 13 36, the kamakura shogan falls and is replaced by a general from the ashikaga clan. But the country does not witness any major new hostilities until 14 67. This is known as the sengoku period, or the period of warring states.
