The Major Differences Between the RV and the LV in Pulmonary Hypertension

The right ventricle appears triangular when viewed from the side and crescent-shaped when viewed in cross-section. It is a thin-walled structure which has much more capacitance than the LV, that is the ability to hold on to more volume. The second major difference is the blood supply. Because the RV is thinner walled, a wall tension is usually not as high as in the LV,. therefore it's not high enough to prevent flow during systole.
