The Cultural Contingency of Reason

Leo strauss was a huge fan of rational analysis. He also thought that the entire project of modernity was doomed to failure from the start. Strauss thinks rationality is not a lost cause just because it doesn't produce certainty. What we should be doing, he says, is using the limitations of reason to the benefit of our societies.
