The Four Practices - Sympathetic Joy
All of our passions and vices have compulsive quality to them, right? For me, at different times in my life, i'd say that one of my primary addictions was suffering. And so that's what i would acknowledge for the four, which can be very hard to think back on times of my life. I often view that as a sort of framework, that if they have a win, then that must ultimately mean that i'm a loss. O, by social medias crippling, all these comparative tools that we now have, just reinforce our own brokenness if we're not careful.
