The environment and technology are in states of change right now, right? They are nowhere near equilibrium. We're dumping greenhouse gases, we're killing off species and things like that. And we're developing new technologies, new ways of changing our everyday lives. It would be very surprising to me if human culture and politics somehow stayed constant in a world where the surrounding boundary conditions were changing rapidly.
