Celtic Holidays - June 20th, the Summer Solstice

June 20 is the summer solstice. The Celts dedicated this day to a celtic goddess who went by so many different names it is ridiculous us. Some of the food and drink would be offered to irish fairies, also known as the good folk or by a bunch of other gaelic terms my brain has no clue how to pronounce. In parts of ireland, people would make a may bush, typically a thorn bush or branch, decorated with flowers, ribbons, bright shells and rush lights. Springs, thought to be sacred, were also visited.
