Admiral James stavridus is the supreme allied commander of europe in nato. He served as a four star admiral for more than 20 years before retiring this year. During his time at nato, he watched as troops were pulled out of positions in europe to support missions in arac and afghanistan. In a letter published on bloomberg, he revealed that he had a hard time persuading colleagues and bosses in washington that rus still posed a threat to europe. It's an assessment he revisited earlier this year after putin ordered his troops to invade ukraine.
