The Debate on Providence in Germany
Provisional research asks the question, where does an object come from? How has it been acquired and how has it changed throughout its social life. This kind of providence research doesn't only reveal a very often the violence of colonial regimes but also prominently asked why are these objects actually still here if we can prove that they have been acquired inviolent m circumstances. The infera structures of documentation and the ways in which the research is done in the museums contributes to perpetuating colonial m m epistemologies within the museum. And what i try to show really is how within these research processes, voices continue to be excluded.
