How to Scam a Manhattan Socialite
A jury found that a 28-year-old woman faked being a Manhattan socialite for nearly a year and tricked numerous people, businesses and banks out of over $275,000. This includes persuading a bank employee to give her a $100,000 loan that she never intended to pay back. All in all, the jury found that Ms. Sorkin had built these places out of, like we said, over $200,000. She tried to dupe a hedge fund into giving her a $25 million loan.
