Is There a Community With Relative Status and Consensus?

In the world of public intellectuals, there's a new topic that everybody's talking about every week or so. And they do typically form a consensus about what they think - at least on each side of the political spectrum. But you know, most academic professors say are not very influential in that,. That is a world of elites, I would call it, who have more elite standards and styles which they bring to their presentations.
