The Story of Charity
Charity Hospital in New Orleans was hit hard by Hurricane Katrina. The hospital had been a center of social medicine for the city's poorest residents. Doctors were hand-bagging patients who couldn't breathe on their own to save their lives. "What they ended up doing was finding humanity in the middle of all of this," says Dr. Peter Bergen.
