The Middle Platonism
The hellenistic age served the same purpose that the warring states period served in eastern philosophy. These people recognized that plato had a huge body of work that was compatible with these new monotheistic religions cropping up at the time. Middle platonists can kind of be seen as mad scientists, in a way, taking the best parts from this creature and fusing them to create neo platonism.
