Coordination Is the Human Superpower
In ancestral societies, it takes at least 15 years before you are able to forward more than you can eat. The time by which a kid can basically earn more than it needs is typically longer than 18 in our society. So the main issue seems to be lengths of childhood, I suspect. A genetic switch that delays childhood could make chimps smarter and give them better environmental circumstances.
