The Use of Astrology in Ancient Rome

This chapter provides a historical overview of astrology from its origins in Hellenistic antiquity to the modern era. It explores the importance and acceptance of astrology among ruling elites, as well as the theological concerns Christianity had with accepting the influence of stars on fate. The chapter also highlights the esoteric nature of astrology, as it has always been difficult to master and accessible only to a select few.
