In the context of new york city school choice, this has been a topic that's been discussed. When they were rolling out major changes to their school choice alg them in the early two thousands, there was thi question whether each school should have a separate lottery. And after analyzing the data based on both approaches, they decided to use one city wide lottery number because it resulted in more students getting their first choice and one of their top twoo ces. Will give more people the ability to choose where they live.
