I wanted this to be a book that quite likes people. This is a book that thinks people are basically pretty decent most of the time. And as you say, there's not particularly a problem in Unlondon. I think that's quite important. One of the things I very much liked about Coraline, Neil Gaiman's book, Coraline, is that the Coraline's parents, they're not bad people. They're not neglecting her. You know, there's no sense that this is an escape into a fantasy world,. which, you know, seems to me to be a very backhanded way of dealing with the fantastic.
