The Environmental Impacts of Electric Vehicles

The battery is a very large component of electric vehicles. It represents about 50 % of the greenhouse gas omissions associated with the production of a vehicle. To make these big batteries, you have to dig up things like lithium, nickel, cobalt, manganese and ship them to a factory on the other side of the world. Most electric vehicles are made in china, where about 60% of the electricity is produced from coal.
