The Greens and Other Voices Criticizing the Government's Budget

An albinaty had the goal to say on budget night that this was a budget that wasn't leaving people behind. I chair the Senate's community affairs committee's inquiry into poverty which has been going since October last year. We've had hearings all around the country, and hearing from people who are living on income support, who are living in poverty. And those stories are heartbreaking. You hear of people who are trying to study, who might have some health problems, they can't afford to work. They'd be able to get on with their lives if they were paid properly.
