Ilyse Hogue: I'm wondering if you see that kind of constraint of maintaining broad compatibility with MySQL as a benefit because it provides focus or as a set of shackles. She says, "We do what's best for our users and our customers, and I think we do it better thanmyscript" The company has five GA versions just recently that were all in support; they could replicate as far back as 5.1. They went from 5.2 to 10.3 skipping all those versions and we could replicate from any of them.

The database market has seen unprecedented activity in recent years, with new options addressing a variety of needs being introduced on a nearly constant basis. Despite that, there are a handful of databases that continue to be adopted due to their proven reliability and robust features.
