The UK ARPA which I think we're calling ARIA it's going to have about 500 million pounds but it's not really looking to be mission-aligned at least not yet maybe it will be. The lack of a mission focus is fine because you can just pursue whatever maximizes the public good at the best, he says. We should spend more on as a society on R&D than we do like the returns are really high when you look at them in social terms so we could probably easily double or triple the amount we spend onR&D before we would have to worry about whether we're getting enough funding for innovation.
