The Symbolism of Sacrifice in Christianity

The Eucharist itself is constituted through a sacrificial act. Sacrifice is thoroughly infused in the symbolism of the liturgy. But this idea that the victim, I think it's really important just to get at this idea of the scapegoat mechanism becoming less effective because of society's concern for victims.
