Robert Downey senior was an underground filmmaker in his heyday. He made, I think, starting off with zero budget films and working his way up to very small budget films throughout his career. Robert Downey junior wanted to kind of correct the record and give this portrait of his dad as well. And their rapport and their relationship, which clearly has not always been easy, is very evident in this film.
