The anthropological story is when, you know, anthropologists in the twentieth century were going to non industrialized parts of the world. What they found was these societies had lots of rules about a giving and getting right? The barter story is really matthy, and it's very much the like, personal market exchange that we're familiar with when we go buy stuff,. It feels familiar. But the other story, that social story, is more nasty and human and weird and interesting and so fun.
