Is FOS a Good Choice for Free Software?
There's not even another proprietary ecosystem that ties together as well as the Apple one does. Even trying to do that with Microsoft or Samsung or whatever, forget about it and ask for FOS. I don't think you can compete with Apple in terms of the integration and the ecosystem. Most people don't ever give it any consideration, don't do anything to think about open source software... so even doing it a little bit is better than the majority of people not doing it at all.
