Roy Clark first met David Middleban when he was the Foreign Secretary in Afghanistan. Most politicians, particularly British, were very close-minded at that stage and didn't want to hear criticism of the troops. He's now done this job with rescue for almost a decade - that is real commitment. And I get asked all the time, you know, what did we pick the wrong Middleban? Is he coming back?
