The Origins of Capitalist Peace Theory

Capitalist peace theory is the idea that commerce softens people and makes them less warlike, maybe a bit more feminine. And it becomes incredibly influential in the nineteenth century. But how do we insure that we aren't invaded? There are two schools of thought at work. The ideas of montesquieu and those enlightenment thinkers ihave just mentioned. A, become main street, and they begin to be acted upon by political actors. B, that makes warriors into into business people.
