Having a couple of things is like a rule of thumb so that when it comes up even in the moment, it might just be somebody on text or by phone and they're waiting for your immediate answer. You've got to have that ability to say no with conviction, not even some wussy, lying kind of half-truthy kind of thing. One of the best books I've read in the last year or two was called The Courage to Be Dislike. Highly recommend that book.
