The High Treason Case
Ji uchi yama was charged with treason for plotting to assassinate the crown prince. His contemporaries and supporters claim that the charges were false. The defendants were all found guilty, largely on circumstantial evidence. 24 were sentenced to death, with two given prison sentences. 12 death sentences were then commuted to life in prison. Now, the other buddhist monks had their sentences commuted but uchi yamas was executed with the others the following day. Uchiama guda was hanged.
