Is There Anything Beyond That That Will Benefit Future Generations?
On ethical grounds, i think the idea that future people matter morally is just really pe uncontrovertible. I expect hundreds of millions of people to die in my lifetime as a result of pandemics, both natural and man made. We could have been acting on climate change many decades earlier than we were. And so now it no longer looks to me like the stuff that we can do to benefit future generations is just kind of philosophers sitting in an armchair ken speculating about things one could possibly do instead. It's actually there are these really pressing challenges. They're very bad for the lonk for the short term too.
